Temperature measures
As of 1 January 2009 the EPN system has changed. When calculating the Energy Performance Norm (EPN) cooling also needs to be accounted for. The shell of the building is a more significant factor than it used to be, and as a result, window shades (because of the heat resisting features) are taken into account when calculating the performance of the building. Roofclix® will undoubtedly make your building score higher and a higher energy label indicates higher economic value.
Reflection provides a high albedo
(=extent of reflection of light.):
The white UV resistant plastic provides high reflection of the sun’s radiation (85%) resulting in the ambient temperature being significantly reduced. Keeping this in mind, the Roofclix® roofing tiles can be used as an effective measure against Urban Heat Island Effect (UHI). Also, smog and particulates in industrial development and / or urban areas are contained.
Solar energy
The newest techniques in the solar energy industry use tube collectors that provide much higher results than the older techniques in this industry. The tubes are placed in frames
of 1 x 2 mtrs. They can be placed freestanding or linked on flat roofs and can be installed without additional weight or connectors.
However, the undersides of these collectors do not make optimum use of light rays when they are placed on conventional roofing. If these collectors are placed on the Roofclix® tiles it ensures ideal circumstances and much higher returns from these collectors since the Roofclix® reflects light rays and the tube collectors are used to their maximum potential.
Conventional solar panels also benefit from the high reflectivity of the Roofclix® tiles and also give a higher return. Other important advantages of the Roofclix® tiles are that they repel dirt and fully protect the underlying roof skin when working on the roof.
A summary of the benefits
- Light in weight, approximately 8 kg/m² (can be used on many roofs without any necessary adjustments).
- Can be made to a weight of 35 kg/m².
- Removable and reusable.
- Noise absorbing (Particularly for steel constructions).
- Completely recyclable (possibilities for C2C are currently being studied).
- User-friendly
- Easy installation
- Extends the life of the underlying roof. In case of bitumen the life can even be expanded by
- 2 to 4 times (depending on the type of bitumen)
- Prevents odor of bitumen
- Cable entry possible below the panels
- Normal foot traffic is possible
- Anti-slip
- Prevents virtually all growth
- Low maintenance
- Burglary resistant
- Storm-proof (if installation instructions are followed)
- Water drainage over two roof surfaces during heavy rainfall
- Large energy savings to be achieved and thus CO 2-reduction and financial benefits
- Comfortable living / working climate
- Decrease of needed cooling power
- Temperature difference indoors can reduce to more than 8° Celsius.
- Temperature difference outdoors can rise to more than 40° Celsius.
- Large savings on staff downtime and productivity
- Fixed sizes of the elements
- Aesthetically pleasing
- UV and infrared resistant
- Investment in the future
- You show corporate social responsibility
- Expansion of application bitumen in warmer countries
- Expansion possibilities steel constructions in warmer countries

Project reference Kalsbeek college in Woerden (Utrecht)
15 July 2010
Planet Safe Ltd has, in collaboration with the Province of Utrecht, built a testing facility on the roofs of the Kalsbeek College in Woerden. The school was in need of new roofing and also had major problems with temperature control inside the school. The performance of both students and teachers were negatively affected by this.
Innovation in roofing
7 January 2009
The Roofclix® roofing tiles are innovative within the roofing industry and provide a significant added value to both existing and new construction, particularly where thermal insulation and/or internal heat buildup is a problem. Furthermore, Roofclix® supports sustainable, safe and cheaper construction.
